REVOPOINT / How-to & tips
A turntable changes the way an object moves past the scanner. Choosing one is therefore a support-and-access decision, not simply a choice between a small platform and a larger motor. Start with the objects you expect to scan regularly and the views you need to collect.
This guide develops the selection questions in Revopoint's supplier material. It does not assume that every scanner supports automatic turntable control, or that every accessory shown is included or sold separately by Creality AU.

1. Allow room for support and access

Compare the object's base with the usable platform, then consider the areas that extend beyond that base. A part may sit on the surface yet still leave awkward overhangs or obstruct the lower viewpoints you need. Any support also becomes part of that arrangement.
Check a candidate setup from the intended scanning positions before choosing it. Can the object remain supported while the scanner sees the relevant edges? A platform selected only by diameter may not answer that practical question.
2. Assess the complete working load
The object is not necessarily the entire load. Include the fixture and other material that will rotate with it, and consider whether its weight sits evenly over the platform. Physical fit and stable movement are separate checks.
Read the current instructions for the actual accessory rather than borrowing a capacity from a similarly named model. Avoid planning a job right at a stated limit. The selection question is whether the proposed arrangement can be supported and moved appropriately, not whether the object can be balanced on it briefly. Write down the object range you intend to support: a light ornament and an uneven automotive component on a fixture can call for different arrangements, even if both fit the same platform.
3. Compare movement, not just motorisation

Manual rotation may be sufficient for occasional work when movement can be controlled. A powered platform can reduce repeated handling, but a motor alone does not establish smooth starts, steady rotation or a suitable scanning pace.
Look for wobble, slipping and abrupt changes during a short trial with the intended object. Choose a pace that lets you monitor the capture rather than making speed the priority. For an awkward part, planned separate views may be more useful than insisting on one uninterrupted rotation.
4. Add tilt only for a useful view
A tilting platform can reveal areas hidden during a level rotation, particularly on a smaller object. Ask which missing surface the extra movement will expose before treating a second axis as an automatic upgrade.
Tilting also changes the object's relationship to the scanner. Recheck distance, visibility and secure support in the proposed positions. For a larger or heavier object, keeping the platform level and changing the scanner's viewpoint may be the more appropriate arrangement.
5. Match the accessory to the capture method
Distinguish a platform that physically rotates an object from an accessory controlled through scanning software. Confirm the exact scanner, capture mode and control arrangement before expecting a coordinated automatic sequence. A family name is not a compatibility check.
Finally, test the intended tracking references and surface response. Rotation cannot resolve every problem caused by an unsuitable material or insufficient recognisable geometry. If preparation is still needed, address that separately instead of choosing a more elaborate turntable to compensate.
