REVOPOINT / Product & software guides
Before a large scanning job, decide how the reference arrangement will survive the operator's route. A clear starting view is not enough if the next side of the object hides the tracker or requires equipment to move.
This planning checklist accompanies Revopoint's Revo Track instructions. It is not a replacement for the illustrated procedure for your exact scanner and installed software.

1. Write down what can move
Sketch the object, tracker, computer and operator's path. Mark anything that might change position: an opening door, a loose panel, a flexible support or a cable pulled around a corner. Decide which surfaces you need rather than automatically committing to the whole object.
Try the route without recording. Can you reach the underside safely, maintain visibility and return to the starting region? If the answer is uncertain, reduce the first trial to one manageable area.
2. Match the reference arrangement to the job

Revo Track documents Track Scan, with the Tracker and object fixed; Multi-position Scan, with global marker references; and Marker Scan, where the Scanner uses object markers without the Tracker. The last still needs its supported computer and power arrangement.
The useful decision is what your workspace can maintain reliably. Do not choose a route solely because a demonstration object looks similar to yours. Check access, stable references and the practical working space together.
3. Keep original Trackit and SR instructions separate

The manufacturer's Multi-position Scan page separates Trackit and Trackit SR. Their reference-capture sequences differ. Follow the correct model tab and distance indicator rather than applying original Trackit example distances to SR.
Have that procedure available before a position change. If another person helps, agree who moves equipment and who checks the reference state. Pause when that handover becomes unclear.
4. Prove one transition before the full capture
Make a short pilot that includes the most awkward boundary, not just the easiest central surface. Review both sides of the join for gaps, repeated surfaces and missing interfaces. A recognisable overall shape can still hide a local problem.
Keep the pilot and note the arrangement that worked. For a vehicle example, see our original Trackit car-scanning guide. Check the final export in the application that will use it before accepting the capture as a design reference.
